The Hogs will host seven games inside the state in 2025, including the first-ever matchup with national runner-up Notre Dame. The season kicks off on August 30 against Alabama A&M before a historic meeting with Arkansas State inside War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock on September 6. The Razorbacks and Red Wolves will meet on the gridiron for the first time on the first weekend of September. The Hogs return home on September 27 to take on the Fighting Irish and will welcome Texas A&M to Fayetteville for the first time since 2013 when the Aggies visit on October 18. Auburn comes to Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium the following week (October 25) before Mississippi State comes to town November 1 to wrap up a three-game home stand. The Hogs’ annual battle with Missouri wraps up the regular season November 29.

PROVIDENCE – In a thrilling second-round matchup of the NCAA Tournament on March 22, 2025, the No. 10 seed Arkansas Razorbacks defeated the No. 2 seed St. John’s Red Storm with a final score of 75-66 at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, Rhode Island.

The Razorbacks established a narrow lead by halftime, going into the break ahead 35-32. Arkansas maintained their momentum in the second half, outscoring St. John’s 40-34 to secure the victory.

D.J. Wagner led the Razorbacks with 18 points, showcasing his offensive prowess. Johnell Davis contributed a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, providing a strong presence on both ends of the court. For St. John’s, RJ Luis Jr., the Big East Player of the Year, struggled offensively, shooting 3-for-17 from the field and finishing with nine points. His shooting woes significantly impacted the Red Storm’s offensive rhythm.

The game was marred by contentious officiating, with several questionable foul calls affecting both teams. CBS analyst Steve Lappas criticized the referees for their frequent whistles, particularly highlighting fouls against St. John’s Kadary Richmond and Zuby Ejiofor, as well as Arkansas’ Zvonimir Ivisic, all of whom fouled out during the game.

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas has hired Kelsi Musick as the 10th head coach of the Razorbacks’ women’s basketball program. Musick has signed a five-year contract through April 30, 2030, with a salary of $600,000 per year.

Musick arrives in Fayetteville after three successful seasons at Oral Roberts, where she led the Golden Eagles to back-to-back 20-win seasons and consecutive postseason appearances. ORU finished the 2023-24 season 24-9, marking its best season since 1982-83. Her teams defeated multiple SEC and AAC opponents while ranking in the Top 20 nationally in scoring each year.

Known for her fast-paced, dribble-drive offense, Musick has developed elite talent, including Summit League Freshman of the Year Emily Robinson, Newcomer of the Year Taleyah Jones, and two-time Sixth Woman of the Year Jalei Oglesby.

Arkansas Athletics Director Hunter Yurachek praised Musick’s work ethic, enthusiasm, and program-building ability. “She has a proven track record of success and is a rising star in women’s basketball,” Yurachek said.

Before Oral Roberts, Musick spent 13 seasons at NCAA Division II Southwestern Oklahoma State, leading the program to seven NCAA Tournament appearances and the 2019 national championship game. She amassed a 259-125 record and earned GAC Coach of the Year honors five times. Her teams consistently ranked in the Top 10 nationally in scoring offense, and she coached three-time All-American Makyra Tramble.

Musick began her coaching career at Fresno State, serving as Director of Basketball Operations before coaching at her alma mater, Canton (Okla.) High School. She later returned to Fresno State as an assistant, helping the Bulldogs to two 20-win seasons and an NCAA Tournament berth.

As a player, Musick starred at Cameron University, setting records in three-point shooting and assists while leading her team to its first NCAA Tournament. She was inducted into the Cameron Athletics Hall of Fame in 2025.

Musick and her husband, Josh, have three children: Maddox, Titus, and Amaria.

PROVIDENCE, RI – Two of college basketball’s storied programs will meet Thursday night as No. 10 seed Arkansas faces No. 7 seed Kansas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Amica Mutual Pavilion.

The game, set for a 7:10 p.m. ET tipoff on CBS, marks a rematch of last year’s second-round battle, when the Razorbacks knocked off the top-seeded Jayhawks, 72-71, to advance to the Sweet 16. This time, the stakes remain high, with both teams looking to extend their seasons in a tournament filled with parity.

Kansas (21-12) holds an 8-6 all-time edge over Arkansas (20-13), but the Razorbacks have won the last two meetings, including an 85-69 victory in a charity exhibition in October. The matchup also features a coaching showdown between Naismith Hall of Famers John Calipari and Bill Self.

EL DORADO – Phillip Lansdell, who has led El Dorado High School’s athletic department for more than three decades, has been named the Class 5A Athletic Director of the Year. This comes weeks after the announcement of his retirement at the end of the school year, marking the conclusion of a 43-year career in education and athletics.

Lansdell has spent 35 years at El Dorado, first joining the district in 1990 as the baseball coach before transitioning into administrative roles. He later became the principal at Hugh Goodwin Elementary before taking over as the Wildcats’ athletic director following the retirement of Mike Bender.

Under Lansdell’s leadership, El Dorado’s athletic programs have achieved sustained success, winning 41 conference championships, 17 state titles, and earning 10 state runner-up finishes. His tenure also saw significant facility upgrades, including the installation of turf at Memorial Stadium and the construction of a new high school athletic facility.

Before arriving at El Dorado, Lansdell began his coaching career at Converse High School in Louisiana after graduating from Southern Arkansas University. He guided the Wildcats to a state baseball championship in 1986 before returning to SAU to work on his master’s degree. He then took the El Dorado baseball job, beginning a long tenure that would shape the school’s athletic success.

Lansdell emphasized the importance of multi-sport participation, ensuring student-athletes had opportunities across different disciplines. He also played a key role in securing resources for the district’s teams, strengthening community support, and enhancing the overall student-athlete experience.

El Dorado alumnus Elliott Jacobs has been named as Lansdell’s successor. Jacobs will take over the role at the end of the school year, inheriting a program that has flourished under Lansdell’s guidance.

As Lansdell prepares to step away, he leaves behind a legacy of championship success, improved facilities, and a commitment to the development of student-athletes in El Dorado.
