Grant Merrill

Grant Merrill is the co-owner and Director of Content for SouthArkansasNow.Com. A native of Russellville, Grant has been a broadcaster for nearly three decades. For a number of years, he was the morning news anchor and later a sports talk show host on the Arkansas Radio Network and Little Rock’s KARN. For much of that time, he was the host of the ARN Statewide High School Scoreboard Show with well known commentator Rex Nelson.
In 2008, he was given his first management opportunity in broadcasting, overseeing the operations of three South Arkansas radio stations for El Dorado business titans William “Bill” Nolan and Judge Edwin Alderson. In that time, he forged a deep connection with South Arkansas and its’ incredible communities. It was there that he and Sandy Sanford began a decades long friendship and professional association.
During that time, he was a fill-in radio broadcaster for El Dorado sports, and even had the honor of calling the Wildcats’ 2012 state baseball championship at Baum Stadium on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville. He was also a play-by-play voice of the Dual State Tournament in Junction City for several years.
Through the years, Grant has gone on to own and operate successful radio stations and digital news platforms in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Following the sale of his company and his exit from the broadcast business, he has focused his efforts on a new round of digital news platforms, the first being South Arkansas Now.
Grant is married to Lauren Merrill, a high school volleyball coach. They have one daughter, Molly, who is a freshman at the University of Oklahoma.
