Lindon Davis

Lindon Wayne Davis, age 43, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in his sleep from a heart attack on November 30, 2024. Born on November 29, 1981, in El Dorado, Arkansas, Lindon was the beloved son of Elizabeth and Gil Newman and Marty and Lane Davis.

Lindon spent his childhood between Arkansas and Texas, surrounded by his siblings; Nate Davis, Holly Davis, Stefan Newman, and Zach Newman and his lifelong best friends; Brennan O’Donohoe, Karen O’Donohoe, Emily Barton, Andrew Bratcher, and Taylor Magee. He had a deep love for football and hunting, passions that carried throughout his life. Lindon, a proud Eagle Scout, exemplified the values of dedication, service, and integrity.

After graduating from El Dorado High School, Lindon attended the University of Arkansas, where he earned a degree in kinesiology. Lindon proudly held the title of the U of A Intramural Putt-Putt Champion. He later further pursued his education at Louisiana State University Shreveport, earning a Master’s in Business Administration. Lindon built a career with Humana Healthcare as a Strategic Advancement Adviser for CenterWell Home Health.

Lindon’s life was defined by his unwavering loyalty, love, and devotion to his family and friends. On July 24, 2005, he married his wife, Lisa Adkins Davis, in a beautiful ceremony in Makena, Hawaii. Together, they built a life filled with love and adventure, raising their two cherished daughters, Logan (15) and Leighton (13). Lindon was the grounding presence in his lively household, balancing his family’s energy with steady, heartfelt support. Lindon was a devoted husband and an amazing girl dad.

A member of Fellowship Bible Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Lindon was a man of faith and conviction. He was also a passionate sports fan, especially when cheering on Logan and Leighton in volleyball and softball. He loved watching college and NFL football as well as college basketball. He also appreciated a solid, season winning fantasy football team. Hunting was his passion. He looked forward to the annual Davis Deer Feed and his annual hunting trip to Illinois. Lindon loved to travel with his family. They were able to take several cross-country trips including Arizona, New Mexico, North and South Dakota, Minnesota, Washington D.C, Virginia, New York, Maine, Massachusetts, Disney World, and all the southern states. He loved his family adventures with the O’Donohoes and the Weisenfels. Movies were one of Lindon’s favorite pastimes. He often enjoyed trips to the theater, whether with his lifelong friend Brennan, his daughters, or even on his own, to catch the latest blockbuster hits.

Lindon is survived by his wife of nearly 20 years, Lisa; their daughters, Logan and Leighton; his parents, Marty and Lane Davis, and Liz and Gil Newman; his grandparents, Dot Hebert (Mamaw Dot), Frank McLelland, and Jim Fernald (Pop); his siblings, Nathan Davis, Stefan Newman, Zach Newman, and Holly Davis; his sister-in-law, Kacy McClain Johnson and her husband, Chris Johnson; his nephews, Jake McClain, and Colton Davis; his nieces, Kaly McClain, Mackenzie Fountain, Marleigh Davis, and Colbi Johnson; and a large extended family and many close friends. Lindon was preceded in death by his grandparents; Lindon and Laverne Davis, Connie Fernald, and Sonny Hebert.

Serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Davis, Brennan O’Donohoe, Andrew Bratcher, Taylor Magee, Shannon Lee, Stan Simpson, Randall Davis, Danny Cardin, Eddie Sexton, and Jared Gates.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Dumas Methodist Church in El Dorado, Arkansas, with Dr. David Bush and Eddie Sexton officiating. Address to the church is 132 S Wyatt Dr, El Dorado, AR 71730. Memorial donations can be made in Lindon’s honor to a benefit account for the family. Lewis “Keith” Gunter, 77, of El Dorado, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at his residence. He was born on October 29, 1947, to George L. Gunter Jr. and Shirley Ann Harris Gunter in Conway, Arkansas.

Keith was a proud veteran who served his country with honor. After his service, he worked as a barber at Southern Gentlemen, where he not only cut hair but also shared laughter and stories with everyone who sat in his chair. He was a longtime member of College Avenue Church of Christ.

Keith expressed his love through cooking. His grilled steaks, smoked pulled pork, fried fish, and fried turkey became the stuff of legend among family and friends. He brought people together with food, humor, and a warm, generous heart.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jack Gunter.

He is survived by his wife, Jamie Morgan Gunter of El Dorado; his daughter, Heather Gunter (Sam Hallam) of Seattle, WA; his son, Phillip Gunter of Conway, AR; his brother, Larry Gunter (Sheri Carder), of Lake City, FL; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at College Avenue Church of Christ under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Memorials may be made to Camp Kurios via College Avenue Church of Christ, 1817 N. College Ave., El Dorado, AR 71730. Keith spent many years volunteering at Camp Kurios, where he taught children to fish, a role that brought him great joy and purpose.

Holly B. Attaway, 70, of Smackover, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the South Arkansas Regional Hospital. She was born on August 9, 1954 to John Edgar and Carline Williams Berry in El Dorado, AR.

She worked at the South Arkansas Regional Hospital as a Registered Nurse and was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Smackover, being baptized in 1964 and rededicated in 2017.

In addition to the Lord and her family, Holly loved all things of nature which are God’s creation. She loved reading, music, adventures with Charles, her country, and her hometown of Smackover. She loved having guests in her home and the memories of loved ones who are now in Heaven.

Preceding her in death are her parents, her brother Eddie Berry, and stepchildren Tiffany Srebrenik and Todd Attaway.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Charles Thomas Attaway. She is also survived and loved by her sons, Berry Jon White and Allison Rigsby, Derry Ray White and daughter in law Brittany White. Her beloved grandchildren are Aaron White, John White, Maddie White, Abby White, Jacob Gardner, Matthew Srebrenik, Noah Srebrenik, and David Srebrenik, and great-grandson Charlie White. She is also survived and loved by her brother, Jeff Berry and sisters in law Cindy Berry and Suzy Berry. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2025 at the First Baptist Church in Smackover with Bro. Carley Davis officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Pallbearers are Glenn Thomas, Cody Cozart, Mickey Valentine, Richard Ray, Mike Rowan, Adam Belt, Chad McNeely, and Zac Scott. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Langley, Randy McNeely, Earl Ontis, and Ronnie Martin.

Joshua Thad Fife, age 34, of Strong, AR passed from this life Tuesday May 20, 2025. Josh was born January 13, 1991 in Camden, AR to parents Jeff and Cheryl Fife.

Josh Fife, a beloved father, friend, and all-around outdoors-man, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and hands-on craftsmanship. Known for his huge heart and generous spirit, Josh touched the lives of all who knew him with his warmth and authenticity.

Josh found his greatest joy in spending time with his two children, who were the center of his world. Whether casting a line on a quiet fishing trip, trekking through the woods on a hunting excursion, or cheering on the Razorbacks with full-hearted enthusiasm, Josh lived every moment with passion and presence.

A man of many talents and endless curiosity, Josh was a skilled metalworker who found solace and satisfaction at his forge, shaping metal with fire and focus. He had recently discovered a love for golf, approaching the sport with the same enthusiasm he brought to all his hobbies. Josh was equally at home tending to his garden, whipping up something delicious in the kitchen, or catching air on a dirt bike—always in motion, always embracing life.

His adventurous spirit, creative hands, and kind heart made him someone you couldn’t help but admire. He lived fully, loved deeply, and gave selflessly.

Josh will be missed beyond words but remembered in every wild trail, every home-cooked meal, every swing of a golf club, and in the laughter of his children.

He was precede in death by his mother Cheryl Ann Roberts Fife; uncle Thomas Fife; maternal grandfather Ted Roberts; paternal grandparents Virginia and Sam Fife; and cousin Daniel “Spanky” Fife.

Those left to cherish his memory include: his loving wife of eleven years Brooke Lee Frederick Fife; one daughter Presley Ann Fife; one son Grady Lee Fife; brother Jeffery Chase Fife of Little Rock, AR; father Jeffery Thad Fife of Baker, MT; maternal grandmother Andrea Johnson and her husband Earl of Smackover, AR; maternal step-grandmother Sharon Roberts of Camden, AR; uncle Michael Fife and his wife Heather of Strong, AR; aunt Charity Hunter and her husband Jeff of El Dorado, AR; aunt Yvonne Roberts of El Dorado, AR; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service in his honor will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Perry’s Funeral Chapel in El Dorado, AR.

James William Humphries, Jr., 78, of Huttig, AR passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025, at his home.

James was born on March 24, 1947, in El Dorado, AR to the union of James William Humphries, Sr. and Laurentia Roberson Humphries.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Elaine Humphries, sister, Mary Humphries.

James retired from Great Lakes and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy having been stationed in San Diego. He was an avid duck hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include his sisters-in-law, Sharon Gibbons and Vicki Flournoy, brother-in-law, Wayne Fife, numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Arlington Memorial Park with Bro. Scotty Fife officiating. Interment to follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado, AR.

Pallbearers will be Hubert Jolley, Clay Jolley, Peyton Jolley, Gary McGoogan, Larry Cook, Tommy Garrett.

Carol Rose Ogden Ellen, 69, of El Dorado, ascended into Heaven Saturday, May 17th, 2025, while battling cancer at CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs, AR. Carol Rose Ogden was born November 09, 1955, at Warner Brown Hospital to JW and Amelia Darlene Molsbee Ogden.

Carol graduated from El Dorado High School in 1974 and finished an associate degree at South Arkansas Community College in 1984. She briefly attended LA Tech in 1985, pursuing a biology degree. She was a Master Gardener and a member of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society.

Carol married Scott Newell Ellen on July 6, 1984, and they joined Our Savior Lutheran Church. Carol was an active member of her church.

Carol is preceded in death by her father, JW Ogden, mother-in law, Marilyn Newell Ellen, and her brother-in-law Chris Ellen.

Carol will be missed and cherished by her husband of 40 years, Scott Newell Ellen of El Dorado; a daughter, Lillian Ellen (her particular friend J.P. Ferdin); a son Nathaniel Ellen and wife Katy Ellen; and their three precious grandchildren, Alexandria Quinn Ellen, Kaysen Ray Ellen and Johnathan Robert Ellen; her mother, Darlene Ogden of El Dorado; siblings, Gary Ogden of Little Rock, and Nancy Ogden of Springdale, and Nancy’s sons: Sam Deason (Brynja McGough) and Whit Deason (Josie Herra); Father-in-law Ray J. Ellen and wife Ann Ellen; Sister-in-law Nancy Cathey and husband Dr. Joe Cathey, and their children, Natalie Cathey and Andrew Cathey.

Carol enjoyed her grandchildren, her cats, the beach, and her garden. She loved celebrating, decorating, and cooking for Christmas and Halloween with her three grandchildren. Carol loved being a part of her book club, her garden club, and her Supper Club.

Carol worked in several professions, but loved most, her years working for the South Arkansas Arts Center 2007 to 2017. After retirement, Carol remained an active member of SAAC. Carol also received repeated gubernatorial appointments to serve on The Committee of 100 at the Ozark Folk Center in Mt. View, AR, which assisted with gardens and landscaping for Arkansas State Parks.

Carol was loved by family and friends for her kindness, helpfulness, hard work, and her big heart. Carol will be missed by her church family, her Supper Club family, and her many friends and extended family.

A reception will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 27, 2025, at the South Arkansas Arts Center: 110 E 5th, El Dorado, AR. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Rev. Sig Kunz officiating: 900 W. Faulkner, El Dorado, AR.
